Foggy and Fall

I took this early this morning. I drove from Connecticut to Boston this morning because I was home yesterday for a family party. This was taken around 7am. I like the light and the fog and clouds in the background. It makes me nostalgic for home...

I took this with my point and shoot saturday night (early sunday morning) while we were out for my roommate's birthday. I'm counting it as my Sunday picture because I took it late and didn't really take anything good on Sunday during the day.

I took this via my cell phone saturday morning before my first official 5k. It was just a fun run and I haven't really been training and I even went out friday night. My official time was 34:20... not great, but still under 35:00, which was my goal.

Sunset

I really like this photo. I like the crisp dark shapes of the leaves and trees in the foreground and the colors and clouds in the sky. I took this around 6:30 on my walk home from work tonight... The changing seasons definitely change the light, as in when the sunsets and the intensity of light. We all know the earth leans away from the earth but moves closer to the sun in the winter and that changes the light that I am working with in taking photos. I'm glad that it's changed the time of sunset in that I can get these pictures on my way home, but I am sad that the sun is setting so early since I like to walk home.

Til tomorrow -

Shadows

This isn't the greatest picture ever, but I didn't take that many pictures yesterday out of frustration. I do, however, like the pattern of the shadows from the light posts on the left side of the picture. I wish I had focused my lens on that and that the shadows were filling the frame. In other news, I ordered a 'gorilla pod' on wednesday. It think it will help and encourage my night photography, which I have always been interested in. When I feel more confident with my photos I'll get out the 35mm and do some night color photos and play with reciprocity failure and see what colors I get... I'm excited.

I have been really frustrated with my photos and photo taking lately, which is why I haven't posted in a few days. I still haven't found a focus or theme and my lens and my eyes are all over the place. It has to do with a lot of factors, but one is definitely my camera and the confidence in it. I feel weird taking pictures with my little point and shoot. It makes me feel like a creep in the dark and a tourist during the day. I really need to sit down and think about what I want to focus on and start shooting it... I'm gonna have to get out my 35mm camera if that's what it takes, but I'm also going to have save up the money for that. Anyway - Hopefully I can figure this out soon and stop feeling such a funk with these pictures.

It was a beautiful ceremony and a wonderful party and I think this captures the party portion of the night... everyone was having a wonderful time and just enjoying the evening. I like that I was able to capture the movement of the people, but the tent and light are static, but crisp. I had some other great shots, but they were of people and I didn't really feel comfortable posting those pictures up on the blog for privacy reasons. Plus the ceremony itself was a small and intimate gathering and I didn't feel that putting up those pictures for critique was something I wanted to do.

I took this on my way home tonight... I took a different route today. I really like this photo. The quality of light is nice as is the as is what I captured in the frame. I do like the photo a lot, but I am not happy with the angle the building takes within the frame... unfortunately I don't have photoshop to fix this. I guess not having photoshop is good because I am forced to work on capturing exactly what I want and actually getting the composition in the time the shutter is open... not fixing and tweaking it after... Anyway ... I like this and the twilight lighting.

Next Step: I need to find a theme.

I'm not feeling so inspired with this picture, but it was the only one I took on Thursday.  The actual light of the evening was really amazing, but my camera just didn't capture... I do like the composition with the movement of the cars and static building in the background.  Plus I am slightly missing Boston so I get a little nostalgic looking at the Hancock Tower.  Clearly I'm not that far from the city, but I just haven't been in Boston really since I've moved.  There's still plenty of photos to take and I still haven't gotten my 35mm photos developed... Soon.  I hope.

I'm also excited to be employed in a job where I have weekends to myself and I am not in school... it's the first time this has happened in my life and I am enjoying it. Anyway, this is a park I pass by on the walk between work and home. I took pictures my whole way home and I have to say it made me notice a lot of little things... a lot of great little things. I think the picture taking on the walk home is a gonna be a good them, but theme is another thing I'll have to talk about in a later entry...

Photostream

So I can't reiterate enough how busy these last few weeks have been for me... I've just been so exhausted. I've been working a ton, I've still barely unpacked (I still have boxes in my room and nothing on my walls... it's pretty ghetto), so getting into my photography has been hard. I've also missed a few days... where I haven't take pictures at all. I'm ok with it, though, because some days I take a lot, a lot of pictures, and other days I don't. Plus what I've been doing at my job is really cool and I've been getting a lot of overtime so that's good... hopefully I can't get into a better rhythm with the blog and the pictures and life in general soon. Here are the missing pictures below :)

2 weeks

So... I'm finally back up.  I've had internet for over a week now and my computer since last Thursday, but settling and moving in combination with my actual job and other planned events I haven't had time to update.  My brain is a little on the fried side, I am super tired, and our internet is beyond annoyingly slow so I am going to force you all (my legions of fans, haha) to wait another day until I can figure out how to format the blog stuff and get all the pictures in one entry instead of 14 separate ones.  I did, however, get the images on my flickr, despite our slow, slow connection.... so if you'd like to go to my flickr page and look at the images feel free to do so here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/lisascho/

I'll post the ruminations and images to the blog later.  Sorry!

Further Delays

My poor little mac has been sent in for a tune-up/the optical drive is broken. It turns three next week ie. my apple care expires then so I had to send it in now. I am still taking pictures, but can't post them until I get my computer back. This move has been ridiculous, and I've been documenting it, but I can't post anything images for now. Also, I've misplaced my digital camera battery charger in moving, painting, etc. I need to get my 35mm negatives developed...

'Til later.
